Detail at small size
Most of the effort on a ship model goes into the parts that are thin: railings, ladders, the lattice mast and the deck crane. On this model they are printed in white and read as separate pieces, not as a solid block. The hull is split into a red underwater section and a blue topside, the deck is teal with a brown working area aft, and black fenders run in a line along both sides. Blue winches sit on the aft deck, and the propeller and rudder are visible under the stern.
Colour without paint
The colours follow the separate printed parts, so the model reads correctly from across a room. Close photos show fine FDM layer lines on the hull, which is the honest finish of a printed model; extra sanding and painting are available on request.
Design: the client; 3D printing: PrototypeBD.
