A choke manifold is the set of pipes, valves and chokes a drilling crew uses to control well pressure. This model of one was 3D designed and manufactured by PrototypeBD, as the post states.
What was modelled
- vertical risers and a horizontal header pipe joined by flanged fittings;
- rows of valves, each with its own spoked hand wheel;
- a lower run of pipe with block fittings at the corners.
Every valve body, flange and hand wheel had to be drawn as its own small feature and then joined into one printable model. At this size the hand-wheel spokes are very thin, so the CAD had to keep them thick enough to print and still read as wheels.
Two versions
The photos show the model printed twice, in bright red and in white. The same file gives the same geometry each time, which is how a design can be repeated for a client's office, a stand or a training room.
