This is a customizable body for a two-wheeled self-balancing robot, designed by Toprak Kara. We printed it in five colours: purple, red, yellow, blue and black. The designer's name is embossed on the base plate.
Built around the electronics
The frame is a set of plates and walls with slots and holes for each part of a typical Arduino balancing robot:
- Arduino Micro
- Two geared DC motors
- L298N motor driver module
- MPU6050 gyro
- Battery
Small strap pieces, printed in each colour, go with every set. The open, slotted layout keeps the build light and lets you reach the wiring without taking the robot apart.
Printing notes
The parts were printed flat on the build plate, and the photos show the thin walls and cut-outs coming off clean. For a balancing robot that matters: the frame has to be stiff and square, or the gyro sees a tilt that is not there.
Building robotics kits for a class or club? We can print several sets in different colours from one file.
