PrototypeBD printed this model of a ziggurat, the stepped temple platform of ancient Mesopotamia. Ziggurats rose in terraces towards a shrine at the top, and this model keeps that layered form readable at desk size.
What the model shows
- three stepped terraces with recessed panels along their walls;
- a long central stairway meeting two side flights at a small domed gatehouse;
- individual steps on every stair, printed as part of the model;
- a shrine with an arched doorway on the top terrace;
- a flat square base in the same colour.
Why the colour matters
The terracotta-brown filament stands in for the mud brick of the real structures, so the model needs no paint to look right. Layer lines run with the horizontal courses of the walls, and the stairs, which are the finest detail on the model, print step by step without blurring into a ramp.
Painting and custom sizes are available on request.
